Plantar Fasciitis Makes Evan Longoria Leave the Field

Evan LongoriaRays third baseman Evan Longoria left Friday’s game against the Tigers because of plantar fasciitis. Manager Joe Maddon, was made alert of the situation and said “He’s a little bit tender in the foot area. We have to wait for it to calm down to make a better evaluation. We’ll know more (Saturday).”

The Tampa Bay third baseman was replaced by Kelly Johnson and had missed time in 2011 due to a hamstring injury. “He’s had all these little nagging things over the last couple years. He tries to play through them. He’s played through a lot of different stuff. I guess it just started to bite too much.” Maddon added. Longoria has contended with plantar fasciitis during this season.
