Getting Proper Footwear Can Prevent a Lot of Foot Damage

proper-shoe-size2The Institute for Preventive Foot Health states that a large number of people suffer from foot pain and injuries, and the root of many of these issues can be traced back to wearing the wrong type of shoe. According to Cami Marshall of WEMY News 2, shoes that are too flat and don’t have adequate cushioning or support can lead to foot damage.

High heels are also dangerous, as they can cause trigger tendon problems and plantar fasciitis. Marshall recommends shoes with lower heels and adequate support to prevent injuries. Above all, she says the most frequent cause of foot injuries is wearing shoes that are too big or small.

Getting the right shoe size is an important step in insuring good foot health. For advice on what kind of footwear is best for you, talk to podiatrist Dr. Bruce G. Getting the Right Shoe Size

Sometimes it may be difficult finding the right shoe size especially because shoe sizes tend to vary depending on the brand and company you are looking for. A size 6 for one brand may be a size 7 in another. Although many people know their exact shoe size, it can range within 2 sizes depending on where they shop.

So it is important not to always go for a size 7 just because you think you might be a size 7 universally. It is best to try on the shoe and walk around for a bit to see how it fits and how it feels. Comfort is essential and the fitting has to be well otherwise it can lead to blisters, bruises at the back of the ankle and it can also hurt your toes if the shoe is too tight for example.

Shopping online for shoes can be very tricky and time consuming, especially since you cannot try on the shoe or see how it fits or how it feels. Also, buying a shoe online then getting it in the mail only to find out that it was the wrong shoe can be frustrating.
